Although the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has been discontinued in other markets, the street-legal rally sedan gets a few updates for 2015. Mitsubishi also confirmed 2015 will be the last year for the Lancer Evolution.
All 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models gain heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and a new cup holder with lid. The Lancer Evolution GSR trim is available with a new Premium Package that includes the Sight and Sound Package (HID headlights, 710-watt, nine-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system with subwoofer, and FAST-key hands-free keyless entry system), leather seating with heated front seats, power moonroof, piano black front console trim, and improved sound dampening. The Premium Package is essentially the 2014 Sunroof and Leather Package.
The top-of-the-line 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR gains the Rockford Fosgate audio system, FAST-key entry system, auto dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, auto on/off headlights, body-color heat extractor vents, bright-finish grille and beltline molding, piano black front console trim, and improved sound dampening as standard.
All 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 making 291 hp at 6500 rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque from 3000 rpm. A five-speed manual backs the engine in the Evolution GSR, while the Evolution MR features a six-speed dual-clutch transmission with Normal, Sport, and S-Sport settings. Power is routed to all four wheels via Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel-drive system. The S-AWC system features Active Yaw Control (AYC), Active Stability Control (ASC), Active Center Differential (ACD), and Sport Anti-lock Braking (ABS) as well as three selectable traction settings (Tarmac, Gravel, Snow) for various driving conditions.
Braking for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution comes by way of Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers and 13.8-inch rotors up front and two-piston calipers and 13.0-inch rotors in back. The Evolution MR gains lighter two-piece rotors up front as well as Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs all around. While the Evolution GSR features cast Enkei alloy wheels, the Evolution MR features a set of forged Enkei alloy wheels. The 18 x 8.5-inch alloy wheels are shod in 245/40R18 Yokohama Advan tires. Inside, Recaro seats are standard with cloth or available leather.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR with five-speed manual is EPA-rated 17/23 mpg city/highway, while the Lancer Evolution MR with six-speed dual-clutch is rated 17/22 mpg.
Pricing hasn’t been released yet for the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, but if you want an Evo, this is your last chance to buy one new.
